Your most frequently asked questions...
Q: What is a “Voice Over Demo” and why do I need one?
A: The all-mighty demo is a professionally directed, recorded and produced audio example consisting of various short clips that feature you doing your very best voice work. You'll need a demo to show off your skills, sound, vocal range and style in order for an agent or talent buyer to hear what you can do with your voice. The demo is your voice portfolio and it has to be current and outstanding in order to get attention.
Q: Do I need to live in Los Angeles to record a demo with you?
A: Absolutely not. I work with voice talent from all over the world. If you have a broadcast quality home studio, you can record from there and I’ll direct you via phone or Skype. Or you can book a couple of hours at a studio near you and I’ll direct you via phone patch. Either way, it will sound as if you were in my LA studio and you’ll sound great! Once we’re done with the recording aspect of your demo, you or the studio will send me the audio files and I’ll work my magic and produce it from here.
Q: What's the process and how long does it take?
A: Well, the first thing we do is have a meeting to discuss your demos content, direction, image and how we want to sell you as a voice actor. Then, It takes me about 5 days to put all the scripts together for you. After that, I'll email you the finished scripts and we'll book a recording date. The actual recording session should take about 2 hours and then it’ll take me another 5 days to post (add music and sound effects) mix and master your demo. The whole process should take about 3 weeks from start to finish.
Q: What is the cost for your demo production service?
A: Please send me an email through the contact page and let me know what type of demo you're interested in having produced. I will promptly send you a response with a price quote.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: After our initial free consultation, if we both agree you’re ready to move forward with your voice over demo production, 50% of the total balance will be due at that time. I accept Cash, Checks and all major credit cards. There are no contracts or long-term commitments.
Q: Do you offer private voice over coaching?
A: Yes and No. Let me explain… If you’re not an actor or you’ve never taken any voice over classes before, I would highly recommend that you do and I would be more than happy to recommend a few coaches that will prepare you for the very important step of recording your demo. Once you’re ready to move forward, what you’ll learn from me (in and out of the booth) you won’t learn from any coach. I’ll prepare you for success!
Q: Are you a management company or talent agency?
A: No I’m not. However, some of my clients often contact me looking for various types of voices and I often will refer voice actors I know and have worked with to them.
Q: Do you offer any other services besides demo production?
A: For a separate fee, I work with you to create a customized marketing plan that meets your short and long-term career goals.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Most of the time I’m in the studio recording so the best way to get a hold of me is by email. Email me from the contact page on my site and I will personally reply to you just as quickly as I can.
Q: I have more questions. How can I get answers to them?
A: I'm available by phone at 818-385-1000 between 1pm and 9pm PST, Monday through Friday. When I'm in a recording session (which is often) the answering machine will pick up. Please leave your name, contact number and who referred you to me and I'll call you back. Remember, an email will get you a quicker response.
